PREORDER Final Gravity Issue 14
Issue 14 of Final Gravity, a print beer zine that shares personal, human-centered stories from the world of beer, is now available for preorder with free domestic shipping!
Rather than a typical glossy beer mag, Final Gravity is an old school stapled zine, but with paid writing and art. It tells the stories that don’t often make it into the pages of beer magazines, the stories that together weave the fabric of the collective beer experience.
In this issue, Frances Tietje-Wang writes about working in the beer industry with ADHD, the advantages and disadvantages they and others have faced, and what they’ve learned to help folks with ADHD thrive at breweries.
Ryan Pachmayer explores the world of farmhouse lager and argues these classic, simple beers are the ideal vehicles for highlighting beer’s agricultural ingredients.
Novelist Casey Scieszka writes about the idyllic and unexpected location in rural New York where she wrote her novel The Fountain, and the historical beer she brewed to celebrate it in collaboration with West Kill Brewing.
Juliana Crask talks about her job as the brewery photographer for Yellow Springs Brewery, and the lengths she’s willing to go to to get the perfect shot.
Here’s the complete list of stories in this issue:
A Bed & Bar, a Book, and a Beer by Casey Scieszka
The Art of Brewing: Vine Street Brewing Co. by Ale Sharpton
Farmhouse Lagers Celebrate the Land by Ryan Pachmayer
Silent Knight Is Serving Up Rap on Tap by Melinda Guerra
Brewing with ADHD by Frances Tietje-Wang
A Falconer Walks Into a Brewery by Ginny Darke
What a Brewery Photographer Does For the Perfect Shot by Juliana Crask
Seven Nights of Orval by David Nilsen
Artist Showcase: Ariel White
Pet Spotlight: Midnight, Final Gravity’s assistant editor
For each issue of Final Gravity, we select a non-profit that either works in or around the beer and hospitality industries or is local to us here in Dayton, Ohio, to support financially. This issue’s beneficiary is the Haitian Community Help & Support Center, providing emergency food and rent support, legal assistance, transportation, medication, and other essential needs for those in crisis.
We believe passionately in the Final Gravity project, in the importance of independent print media, and in the DIY tradition of zine publishing. We hope you’ll enjoy this issue of Final Gravity.
This zine is 8.5” x 5.5”, 56 full-color pages, and staple-bound. Despite being a grassroots, DIY zine, it features paid writing and artwork.
