PREORDER Final Gravity, A Beer Zine Issue 11
Issue 11 of Final Gravity, a print beer zine that shares personal, human-centered stories from the world of beer, is now available for preorder with free domestic shipping!
More photos will be added to this listing soon. Preorders will ship the first week of February.
Rather than a typical glossy beer mag, Final Gravity is an old school stapled zine, but with paid writing and art. It tells the stories that don’t often make it into the pages of beer magazines, the stories that together weave the fabric of the collective beer experience.
In this issue, Jacopo Mazzeo takes us to Sarajevo, a city rich in history but scarred by wars. He traces the history of Sarajevska Pivara, a brewery that has survived decades of the city’s trials, often playing a role in the health and safety of its residents.
Lana Svitankova tells the tragic but hopeful story of ProArt, a brewery in Kiev, Ukraine, that was recently destroyed by a Russian missile.
Ale Sharpton profiles the artist behind Mason Ale Works’ colorful label artwork, with full graphic showing the step-by-step progression from sketch to finished image.
Editor Melinda Guerra talks to student brewers impacted by the Siebel Institute’s departure from Chicago in the wake of the current administration’s disastrous attack on immigrants.
Here’s the complete list of stories in this issue:
Siebel and the Consequences of Bad Immigration Policy by Melinda Guerra
The irritate Our Foes, To Make Our Mothers Smile: ProArt Brewery in Ukraine by Lana Svitankova
Utah Shouldn’t Love Beer, and Neither Should I by Gentry Hale
A Good Man: On Unexpected Role Models by Morris McClellan
How Working in a Micropub Healed My Racist Trauma by David Jesudason
Sarajevska Pivara: A Well of Life in Sarajevo by Jacopo Mazzeo
The First, Not the Last: Zafa Wine Breaks Ground with Hops by David Nilsen
Gangnam, Gopchang, and Lager: Late Night Cravings in Seoul by James Tai

Pet Spotlight: Asheville’s bears
For each issue of Final Gravity, we select a non-profit working in or around the beer and hospitality industries to support financially. This issue’s beneficiary is BrewGether. BrewGether provides funding to community organizations to advance diversity and equity.
We believe passionately in the Final Gravity project, in the importance of independent print media, and in the DIY tradition of zine publishing. We hope you’ll enjoy this issue of Final Gravity.
This zine is 8.5” x 5.5”, 56 full-color pages, and staple-bound. Despite being a grassroots, DIY zine, it features paid writing and artwork.
